Duke University Golf Club

Enjoy One of Durham's most Celebrated Golf Courses

Enjoy a fun and challenging day with friends, family or colleagues on one of Durham’s most celebrated golf courses. The beautiful 18-hole championship Duke University Golf Club opened in 1957 and is the only Robert Trent Jones-designed course in the region. Renovated by Jones’ son Rees in 1993, the Duke University Golf Club was the site of the 2001 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship. The golf course has been ranked as one of the finest University golf courses in North America.

The Duke University course is a traditional ‘parkland design’ that has short walks between the green and next tee box, fairways surrounded by groves of tall pines and stately hardwoods topped with a marvelous selection of green complexes that play firm and roll fast. The golf club’s outstanding practice areas are open to the public. They include an active 30 station practice range with seven target greens. As you step off the back patio of the Washington Duke Inn you will encounter two wonderfully conditioned practice greens for putting and chipping.

In addition, the Club’s PGA professional staff has been featured in PGA Magazine for promoting fun golf instruction in helping to grow the game of golf. The staff includes a Golf Magazine Top 100 teacher and PGA Master Professional, three PGA Certified Coaches and two Class ‘A’ members who can help you elevate your game with private or group instruction. These PGA of America professionals also host a wide variety of golfing events from fun group putting outings, to clinics, to golf tournaments of all shapes and sizes. Call the golf shop to arrange for your private or group instruction.

Tee times are available 14 days in advance for the general public and up to 30 days in advance for hotel guests. Visit the Duke Golf Club website for additional information.

For guests looking to perfect their swing, six PGA Professionals and one Master PGA Professional are on staff and available for group or private lessons.

To book tee times, please call the Golf Shop at 919.681.2288.
