DURHAM, N.C., August 1, 2023  –  JB Duke Hotel and Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, two distinctive AAA Four Diamond hotel properties located on Duke University's campus, are hosting a “Flashback Flicks” summer outdoor movie series that celebrates classic feature films across the decades, ranging from beloved romantic comedies, suspenseful thrillers and tales of adventure. Throughout the month of August, join the Bull City properties on Thursdays at 8 p.m. for an intimate cinematic experience that is sure to make you laugh, cry and smile under the summer stars:  

Thursday, August 10 @ JB Duke Hotel – A League of Their Own (PG)  

Thursday, August 17 @ Washington Duke Inn – Jaws (PG)  

Thursday, August 24 @ JB Duke Hotel – Roman Holiday (G)  

Thursday, August 31 @ Washington Duke Inn – Raiders of the Lost Ark (PG)  

JB Duke Hotel guests will gather on the hotel’s contemporary, cozy MarketPlace Terrace. The showings at the Washington Duke Inn will take place on the property’s Terrace on the Green, overlooking the scenic Duke University Golf Course. Seating is available on both properties, but guests are invited to bring blankets for seating on the grass.  

Local gourmet popcorn shop The Mad Popper will be on site selling its unique popcorn creations for attendees to enjoy during the showings. In addition, the hotels will serve a selection of specialty drinks and small bites throughout the evening.

To round out their outdoor movie experience, guests are invited to experience the JB Duke Hotel’s light-filled spaces, contemporary furnishings and sweeping views of the surrounding Duke Forest. The Lobby Lounge offers a full dinner menu with small plates, entrees, soups, salads, sandwiches and sweet treats. A peninsula bar, chic décor and lush seating areas create an ideal atmosphere for intimate conversations or small gatherings with friends. 

Located just across the street from the JB Duke Hotel, the Washington Duke Inn’s Bull Durham Bar and award-winning Fairview Dining Room boast thoughtfully crafted, locally sourced dishes and cocktails that can be enjoyed in the restaurant or outside on the property’s expansive patio.
