Hospitality Career Carnival

DURHAM, N.C., August 8, 2022 – Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, the AAA Four Diamond hotel, located on the campus of Duke University, is hosting a Hospitality Career Carnival on Tuesday, August 30, from 3-7 p.m., located on the property’s Terrace on the Green. The event is part of a major hiring initiative that was launched earlier in the year by the Inn, JB Duke Hotel and The Lodge at Duke Medical Center to recruit the Triangle’s top hospitality talent.

Career Carnival attendees will enjoy a selection of complimentary “bites” and beverages from the award-winning Fairview Dining Room, accompanied by lively 1920s-era music and a $100 cash prize putting contest on the Duke University Golf Course. Two circus and aerial artist performers from Cirque de Vol will be featured at the event to heighten the 1920s carnival experience. Area Director of Human Resources Deana Merrell will be on-site, alongside current managers and employees, to answer questions and discuss career opportunities.

“Providing our employees with the best resources to thrive professionally and live a happy, healthy life has always been our top priority,” said Deana Merrell. "There are so many opportunities throughout our Duke family of properties to build a rewarding career within the field of hospitality and beyond. We've designed our Hospitality Career Carnival as a great way to experience the Inn and our warm and inclusive culture firsthand.”

Potential new hires will have the opportunity to interview for a variety of part-time and full-time positions in housekeeping, maintenance and food & beverage. Offers will be extended to qualified applicants following the casual interviews.

The Washington Duke Inn recently raised starting pay for hourly employees to $17 per hour, with perks including a free meal during each shift, generous benefits, an employee referral program and free parking. To review all career opportunities, please visit https://dukehospitalitycareers.com/.
